Operational Risk with a focus on Basel II and its impact on the Turkish banking community was the the subject of a presentation by BRAXXON in Istanbul on 26th September 2005. The event was in response to an invitation from the Banks Association of Turkey.
Surprisingly, with around 200 senior bankers present, the event developed into an extremely interactive debate on how the banks could address the numerous requirements of the Accord which is critical to the plan for Turkey to become a member of the European Union. The keenness of the audience to comply with European regulations extended to understanding the MiFID initiative, the market cost of which has recently been estimated at 1.1 billion euros..
